All that lies ahead of you is your memory of the past.
You cannot re-create, re-build or re-live the past.
All that you have is a memory of it. If it was good, then, then now it is a beautiful memory. Cherish it. If it was bad, then, then be grateful that it is over. Erase it. And if you cherish it, then do that as the past and do not long for it to return, because it cannot, despite all your efforts. Your efforts will be a waste of present time, and time is precious and is not to be wasted.
And you create the past in the present. As you live it, in that very moment, it is becoming the past. The purpose of present time, is to create a past.
The past is real and you cannot change it. The present is uncertain and depends on you and you have the power to change it as you go. The future is but a dream of a sometime present and that real past.
We have a moral obligation to create the best past that we can by using the present in the best way that we can.
Why should we care about the past?
Because ultimately that is all that we will have in the future. The past is our only real wealth, but we are creating it now, in the moment, as we live and breathe. So be mindful of it as you go.
